Readers sitting quietly with books in a warm, light-filled Lagos space

Lagos Mainland · Free · Monthly

Bring a book. Read quietly. Leave a little lighter.

Silent Book Club Mainland is a free monthly reading hangout — no assigned books, no performance, no pressure to speak. Just an hour of quiet, then conversation if you want it.

Our story

Reading, but together.

Silent Book Club Mainland exists because of something we kept hearing at Silent Book Club VI: how far people were coming. Readers were crossing the whole city — from Egbeda and Ikorodu, from Badagry, from Awoyaya and Lakowe past Ajah — just to sit and read for an hour. So instead of asking the mainland to keep making that trip, we brought a chapter to it.

The rhythm stays the same every time. You arrive, order something warm, and settle in — no small talk required, no book to defend. For an hour, everyone just reads, properly and uninterrupted. Then the room opens back up: recommendations trade hands, strangers become the kind of friends who ask "what are you reading?" before they ask your name.

No membership fee. No assigned book. No one's going to quiz you on chapter three.

Where we meet

Atrium

Plot 18, Block 1a, Agoro Street, Omole Phase 1, Ikeja, Lagos

Our first mainland home. Atrium has several spaces to read in — the Garden, the restaurant, and the conference room — so there's always a spot that fits the mood, with freshly squeezed juice and mocktails within reach and just enough hum to make quiet feel comfortable.
